From Unworthiness to Communion is based on a series of lectures given by Ernest Skublics at a 2009 retreat for priests in Calgary, Canada. In his preface, Dr. Skublics writes:
"We are unworthy, unholy, creatures and sinners, yet we are called to the all-transcending holiness of God. that holiness is not an incremental improvement of what we are, but a wholly transcendental share in God's being, which can only be our by his initiative, his pure gift of grace. That initiative and pure gift comes on the form of a Covenant, establishing a relationship between God and ourselves, with us coming into the position of responding, with corresponding commitments and expectations. That Covenant is fulfilled in Christ creating a Communion in and through himself, whereby we become sharers of God's Trinitarian "being as communion." Our response, then, through this Covenant-and-Communion, is a personal, relational one, rather than simple conformity to an impersonal moral code. The Law of personal Communion is love--the Great Commandment."
This work will be of interest to anyone who is interested in exploring the theology of man's relationship to God. Ernest Skublics has a Doctorate in Theology from the University of Nijmegan in Holland.
